Dark Tree Peony

NoID Paeonia suffruticosa. I ordered a named, white cultivar and this is obviously not it, but I must say it's very pretty.

One more of life's little mysteries! You still got a beautiful peony and we got a beautiful banner.
The local peony garden must have ordered from the same nursery.
It has plants that are identified as red peonies, like Rinpo, but have white blooms, and plants that are identified as white cultivars that have red or pink blooms, and it isn't just a case of two plants simply having been switched. I call these misidentified specimens cuckoos in the nest. My guess is that every gardener could cite similar tales.

That's a good mistake of the vendor. Love the color!

No, I can't say I was very upset about the mix-up (other than on principle of course), especially as this colour goes very well with everything else in that particular bed.
