My son asked a question that really made me go, "Huh, I don't know, but I'll look that up!" He wanted to know if there are plants that exist that glow in the dark or emit light. My instincts said no, but I was surprised what I found when I looked.

This article is a smidge dated, but MIT is manipulating plants to glow using luciferase (the enzyme that makes lightening bugs glow).

Those would definitely be fun to plant a few around the backyard and in the containers to light up the yard at night. Make it look like you have solar-lighted fake flowers!
