My daylily craze is waning and I am becoming more interested in Bearded Iris of all kinds. Blooms last longer on them. Hilarious!

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! LOVE them!!! What is the iris in the 3rd picture that looks orange or gold? It's STUNNING!! Well, all of them are STUNNING, but I've been wanting an orange one forever, and I don't even like orange! I have the most plain Iris ever!

Natalie, that is Coffee Song.

Debra, I got into TB iris because I need something to bloom before daylilies. But I soon just fell in love with the colors and form. I do love the big blooms and the ruffled flower forms.

Thanks Debra & Rita! It's so gorgeous! I've only seen one orange in person, and fell in love with it. I've cut back on the iris crazies to make room for the daylily crazies, but now that I have 12 1/2 acres, I've got room for everything! Hurray!

Rita, do you know the name of the dark purple in the second picture? I have one that looks identical. Mine was supposed to be pink, so I was surprised when it bloomed! I hadn't planned on taking any more iris with me, but when it bloomed yesterday, I knew I couldn't leave it behind. I only know the names of about 3 of my iris and all of those have been planted in Idaho already.

Natalie there are so many dark purple iris that I doubt yours is the same one as mine. This one is a Rockytop into called Donachcloney. I got a whole bunch of Rockytop iris afew years ago and they are really beautiful things.

Stunning Rita!!!! I LOVE your Orange one, too. Of course, it does kinda look like you'll need to be dividing some of yours soon, soooooooo, be sure to let me know if you decide to sale some. I'd like one of each!!! I bet by the time you plant all your bulbs this fall, you will not be in any mood to divide TB Iris. But, just in case, please keep me in mind. Blessings, Mona

Rita, Mine isn't a new one, so it could be the same. It looks identical to me. After seeing your pictures, I went and dug mine up. I just couldn't leave it behind. I still have one more clump of it but if I dig that one, there will be a big gap, and these line the front of the house. I've decided that since the house is on the market, I should leave it looking pretty, instead of a big gap. I can always buy more later. Does yours smell good? I hadn't noticed until today that mine smells so good!

Coffee Song was the one that caught my eye too. I may have TB opening this week. Natalie have you reached the lily crazies yet? The OTs OPs and in fact all of them are wonderful and don't cost as much as daylilies. They are so co-operative about multipling too.

Susan, I've had a touch of the lily crazies, but not too bad. I plan on getting more after we move since I'll have extra room for all kinds of new crazies!

The next thing I want to do is get some reblooming iris. Since I'm taking so few of my iris with me, I'll be trying to buy mostly rebloomers to replace them with.

Natalie, I have never been able to notice any scent on any iris ever. So if some iris are supposed to be scented I don't know about it. And I would ignore it on a decription because I can't smell them anyway.

Mona, I moved all those iris last August into that bed. Yes, they are too crowded but the old iris bed needed to become a veggie garden. So they will stay as they are. Not touching them those year. By next year the tags should have faded into can't read them so I will have a jungle of NO IDS planted too close. I don't care as long as they look pretty.

Second year, now, I have been drooling over your photos of Rio Rojo. Just moved it up my plant list from Want: Like to Have, to Want: Absolute must-have.

Rita, how do you think it would look planted close to Coffee Song? Think the Rio Rojo would cause the colors on Coffee Song to look muddy or wash it out?

Humm, I am thinking. No I think the two colors would look good together. I have some purple iris there around Coffee Song and it looks fine.

Debra, remind me after bloom season and I will hack of a piece of Rio Rojo and send it to you. It is a good grower and has increased much since I last divided it.
