Daphne

Daphne: A very fragrant bush that blooms in winter.

What a great banner! All of these wonderful plants that I find that are just 1 zone away from my zone, they just tempt me to give it a try sometimes, this is one of those.

I haven't seen this plant in the banners before, so that's an extra cause for celebrating a lovely contribution to the forum.

@Murky Nancy - there are lots of varieties of Daphne. Mine is a variegated shrub form that stays perfectly round in form without pruning. They are great shrubs BUT Daphne is notorious for up and dying for no reason. Mine, fortunately has been happy and healthy for 6 years now. It must be happy with it's location (next to a crepe myrtle that gives it some shade in the hot summer).

As for scent, it is a sweet jasmine like scent that carries very far on the wind.
