Hmm, when I do grow bean, I grow them to eat green but actually , on the average , they do not produce enough to eat green regularily, SO, I let them get ripe and dry out.

Usually I will get a couple of cups, plus or minus, depending on size of the bean but just plain old fashioned red or white beans are what I , or at least that is the color they are when dried for use.
They do go into either Bean Soup or Chilli.
I/we used to always have some hard beans in the store room but now the cupboard is bare.
I think I will add beans to my garden plans, as I have a wire tower for them to grow on.
This year rather than stick them in back with the other seeds that are use or burn odd balls, I will put them out front. I tip my hat to you.

I've had some nice black beans do well for dried, and a couple of reds and pintos, but I can't recall which varieties. I don't grow bush beans outside anymore and the few climbing ones I have are just enough for green beans and seed.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.
