You all have such beautiful iris and names of your plants

I am embarrassed because I do not have names. Some were given to me some where on the property I purchased and some when I moved I just dug them up and planted willy nilly all over my new gardens.

With or without names they are pretty! Thanks for sharing, I like that 4th iris a lot.

Cinta - you will notice that not all of us have names for our plants. And you will find that it doesn't matter.

FINALLY I have some bloom!

NoID's - both of these. The yellow one has an interesting history. Years ago, when my father moved into an apartment on my sister's property he planted two long rows of iris in her front yard. It was there that I first discovered black iris. My sister lives on a busy street in a Cleveland OH suburb, and people would stop and admire those flowers. A couple of years back, someone asked my sister if she could have some - and do a trade, my sister agreed. Because life interfered, I saw those rhizomes from the trade still sitting on my sister's front stoop in mid- October - she had never gotten them planted.

I stole them. and had no clue what color they were - those stolen iris are these gorgeous yellow ones - there is going to be quite a show with this clump in another few days

Very nice, Cinta! I REALLY like the last 2 pics! Names are nice, but certainly not needed for enjoyment. Some of these beauties HAVE no name ! I think that the "search for the NOID", is one of the things I like most, in fact! Lot's of fun looking at pics, talking to other gardeners, etc.. And if a name is never found...so what! ...you've had the fun, the flower, and the fellowship...and that's what's really important...Right?.....Arlyn

I could just sit and look at Iris pictures all day -- names, no names, whatever. They're all beautiful and that's what it's all about!!

Cinta -- your Irises are beautiful!!

Jan -- you're on your way! Love the space-ager and love the story about the yellow Iris -- Irises are so forgiving, aren't they?

Tom -- you asked about my developing garden with your Red Iris and my White Peonies -- here's a photo of the beginning:

Cinta, the 4th one with the lavender edge is really lovely. The last 2 look like old historic ones. Maybe someone will recognize them. With or without names, they will give you joy for many years. I had a huge tree fall on my main iris bed a few years ago and the tree men raked up all my markers. I'm still working on getting them all reidentified.

Cinda, I'm so glad you were able to rescue that lovely one. It's a cute little thing.

Poured rain here again yesterday and most of the night. Tornados getting a little too close for comfort.

Thank you all. I am usually not concerned with names and when I brought my new house I wanted to put the old house up for sale quick and the realtor told me to scale back the gardens so it was a quick dig and move. There was no time for names. I had a hard copy of placement on paper because I do not like name tags in my garden.

That paper trail does no good when you throw everything in a box together.

The last one I call Family. Because it has been in the family as long as I can remember. Everybody has it in their yard even my sister that does not garden. She is a grass and a couple of conifer landscaper but my Mom always plant that iris in our yard when we got our new houses.

virginiarose Your Celebration Song does not look like mine. Is it supposed to have the little horn thingies on the ends of the beards that come out? Mine does not have that?

Yeah -- I just checked the ATP Database for Celebration Song -- no blue on the beard, and no space-age beard tips! Virginiarose -- you've got a NOID! Awesome flower, though!! nodding

Thanks Debra! *Blush* I just looked at that picture and thought how pretty it would look to add some dark blue/purple Irises to that mix. Sort of a red-white-blue thing. Waddya think?
