In this latest video I remove our 50 year old "shishigashira" japanese maple from the ground and then root prune and place it into a container.

thank you both!
I do tend to speed up sections that are repetitive as all seasoned gardeners can quickly comprehend the details and get back out to the garden sooner!

and here is an update on the shishigashira, now out of the "intensive care period" and really thriving after only four weeks.

and an update!
We built a new guest house on our property and decided to re plant the shishigashira back into the garden. The roots in the temporary pot were doing extremely well with plenty of bright white new growth. We removed the tree from the pot and replanted into its new location yesterday (June 23)

Maple trees and garden look outstanding and a perfect 🤩 spot in the garden. I tip my hat to you.

I have removed two Trident maple (Acer buergerianum) maples over time they were to much leaf fall . They were 25' tall several trunks and 20 years old. Just got tired of the constant trimming and clean up plus they would send up suckers everywhere.

I have several dwarf maples and othe small trident maples that are planted in an area where they can stretch out their arms . And variegated tri-color maple called striped maple with stripped bark.

I enjoyed your video Otto.
I have introduced. Going Green. Summer Gold. Ozakazuki.
Sango Kaku. Emerald Lace. Bi hoo. Wilson's Pink Dwarf.
Indaba Shidara. Taylor. Seryiu. Acer Pen rubrum. Little Princess.
Into my garden this season, and I must say it's been a steep learning curve for me.The weather here has been really hot, and that hasn't made thing's easier.
However that's gardening for you, and I do like a challenge.
So looking forward to next year to see how things pan out.

Your garden is looking lovely as ever Bea😋

@ Meandmyroses. Wow you have added a whole garden to your space. Would it be ok to see a pic or two. Some of your additions are spectacular specimens.
Your garden is always a treat to see any time of year. A beautiful living art garden.

Thank you 😊 I appreciate complements from you especially since we have similar garden -plants and style techniques. I tip my hat to you.

My wife is from Holland and so many homes in Holland have beautiful small landscape gardens with Japanese maples being a major player to add depth and contrast to other plants. Overall they fit in so well without being overbearing and obstructive around other plants.
Although we have a much larger property here in BC, we incorporate many small landscape applications thru out the garden. We do our daily "garden tour" with our dog to check on all the changes and colors developments, great fun!
So nice to see gardens thru out North America as well adding these beautiful trees to their landscapes

@ OttoBjornson… maple trees can be invasive especially trident maples sending out runners and the seeds the maple seeds that are like helicopter's reseed and the squirrels plant them everywhere.

The colors and textures of all sizes of Japanese maples are an interesting focal point year round. Some really shine with fall blazing colors.

Holland's climate is not a welcome climate for Japanese maples as in your BC
garden. Would be nice to see more pics of your garden from your morning walks.

I also find the walkway style in your garden a very interesting and contrast to brighten the garden features. The walkway adds movement and texture. I tip my hat to you.

Here are a few pics of the middle and back garden. Years ago when we were grafting japanese maples the green house was a work horse. Now it is an entertainment area for dinners and acoustic music occasionally. The back of the garden is what we call our private park. Many areas left to nature to help support the natural landscape.
