Thank you very much! : ) Yes, it's 1 floor, built in 1900. To the left is my little she-shed. It blends right in with the house. DH built it with that in mind.

Slappy is alpha squirrel... Even to those much bigger than her. She will chase another squirrel for 10 minutes to establish her dominance and access. Since she's a bit cantankerous, being named after the Animaniacs character Slappy seemed appropriate.

After moving my desk to the darkest part of the room and filling the spots near the windows with potted plants, the view is great, and windows are temporarily irrelevant. Zone denial is raging through my house. Hahaha!! The view out of the windows next year should be great again when I take the plants back outside. Had to downsize a little this year and let so many great stems go, less room for them this time around.

This year things are similar, but different. Still a lot of disarray with pots, easing back into spots they have enjoyed before, so they are a lot of the view @ the moment, next to what is visible here.

Love the dry stacked brick bordering BTW. I have salvaged a LOT of bricks for the same purpose. I still drive by structures under demolition to try and get more. I have brick things in the trunk just in case.

Thank you very much! It works well with my commitment issues. It won't be hard to undo when I change my mind about the shape, size, location - which I will soon or eventually. It's been there for 7...ish years so far. I got the bricks the same way, finding them buried in our yard and vacant lots where walkways & patios used to be. They're so much more interesting than new bricks.

Commitment issues are why I don't have many perennials. I want a different garden view every year - and a lot of big, colorful, tropical foliage. Plain green leaves are a real snooze to me. It was also a handy way to use a smother area instantly vs. waiting for death of the weeds underneath and decomposition of the OM used to do the smothering.
