I wanted to check in with the group and ask if anyone has had any success in getting Dutch iris to come up and bloom. I have tried repeatedly to plant and bloom Dutch iris and have never had any luck. They just refuse to grow and bloom for me. Is there any secret to getting these bulbs to bloom?
I'm in Zone 7A/southern New Jersey.
Thank You.

I am interested in Dutch Irises too. I tried them for several years. They bloomed once. The issue might be their dormant period; that is, the bulbs are available in spring only. However, they don't wake up in spring, but later, in late summer or even fall. Of course, the winter kills them because they don't go dormant when they ate supposed to go dormant in Zone 5b. Confused I would appreciate some guidance. Thank you Smiling

@Jasmin ...

Your post kind of confused me when you said that dutch irises were only available in spring.

Dutch iris bulbs are available from many companies now. The bulbs are planted in fall and come up in spring.

Mine came with my house, but I have relocated them in fall and they have come up reliably every year without much attention from me ... Smiling

Here's a link from one of the bulb companies I have ordered from in the past that gives step-by-step instructions on how to grow the irises:
