Best of luck on your Semp hobby. We all have to learn to live with our micro climates and make adjustments as required.

Glad you mentioned the micro climate thing, Marilyn. It's really something that we need to find for our semps and make the best of it even if we have to move them around to better location, or provide sun protection or tweak the midnite watering schedule.
Rarely do I buy semps and plop them anywhere I want and they do well. I really have to pay attention to where they want/need to be to thrive.

Yes, you are profound today!

OK. On the covered patio they will go or in the shade of my rosebushes or bamboo grove. The ones I have that are doing well already are at the base of a tall raised bed wall and may be getting some shade from that. I was going to go buy some shadecloth for my veggie garden tomorrow anyhow, so I'll get a little extra ! I lived in Seattle for about 10 years after leaving the Midwest and then decided to lose the webbing from between my toes and move down here. It takes awhile to learn the growing conditions in each place.....but it's an interesting process.

PS You can call me DKG or koi or Sherry or whatever you like, just don't call me late for dinner ! Big Grin

Aw. thanks guys ! You are too kind. It's an acrylic painting I did of a friend's show koi. I thought it would make a good avatar to explain my odd moniker a little better. Lovey dubby CDsSister gave me acorns for the SW Gardening badge, which is a saguaro cactus, so now I've got the Desert and the Koi (gal) part covered!

Hurray! Great koigal. I love the cactus badge, and the fact that you painted the koi picture makes it really special. Thumbs up
