This season I placed a rather large order (for me) with C and T iris Patch of 42 plants. Normally I would place a small order the first time to get a feel for a vendor, but I must have been in a real shopping mood last week, lol. However now I'm getting nervous because I've been reading some concerning posts elsewhere in regard to extremely high incidents of mislabeled plants - one person said her entire order were NOIDs. I am considering contacting them and asking what their policy is for mislabeled iris. I don't plan on canceling my order because frankly I love just about every iris I've seen so I would probably be fine with NOIDs, and I'm willing to take the chance - and learn from it if it's a mistake. Please let me know if asking about a specific vendor is against any rules and I will delete the thread. Thank you!

I had mislabeled iris and never got a response from them. To err is human. To fail to reply means it was my first and last order from them. I got 2 noids in an order of 4 iris.

I have not been happy with my order from C&T.
One omission, though charged for.
One mislabeled substitution
One so puny and dried up that it did not make it through the winter.
One died a few years later.
Two others have always been weak.
Now I only order from them if I can't find a cultivar anywhere else.

To give them credit, they gave me a partial refund, but it was wasted time and energy for me here in my advanced age. I didn't appreciate it.

Sounds awful.... especially for those of us who are older.
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

I ordered 16 iris from C & T Iris Patch last August. Only 4 bloomed this year, and all 4 of those were NOT what I ordered, or what they were marked as from C & T Iris Patch. When I placed my order last year, I inquired if they could ship sooner than later, as our last frost here in the AZ White Mountains, can come as early as October 1st. They told me no problem....Didn't hear anything from them for about 3 weeks, so I inquired again. They got nasty with me and said that they would ship soon, but to NEVER contact them again....so, I am not certain if the mis-labeled iris were an accident, or on purpose. Considering sending an email with pics of what I got vs: what it should look like, but might just be a waste of my time. Might just pull them all out and start a new order with a more reputable company. I have about 150 varieties in my yard, and originally reached out to C & T because they had a few of the iris that I was looking to replace in my garden. Didn't work out so well for me.

They sent me mislabeled iris - all 4 of the iris in my order. Did not respond to my email about it. I would never have anything to do with them again.

Ordered from C&T for the first time this year. The rhizomes arrived well packed and fresh and green. They were a good size. I'm expecting good blooms - I'll post again when I see how they turn out. The website is easy to use although I do like to be able to sort by colors when shopping. Most iris growers just have too large of inventory to do anything other than alphabetical. I did email them a few times concerning the use of an iris society coupon I had and they were quick and response. Very pleasant to talk to. I will purchase again from them!

No reviews since 2019? Is Dave even still posting garden reviews? I tried posting one a couple years back, and it never showed up in the reviews.

I only ordered once from them several years ago. Probably a third of my order was mislabeled. My recollection is that the rhizomes were on the smaller side, and one didn't make it..
I'm sorry your ordered so many. I see a lot of complaints on the Facebook Iris pages.. They are second only to Brecks for poor service, quality and accuracy.

I must have gotten lucky last year, as the 2 iris varieties that I purchased from C & T Iris Patch were not only accurate, but beautiful. 2 that were not available elsewhere. I had been wanting rhese 2 for quite some time. Sand Dancer and Genetic Artist.

Oof. Well, I'll just cross my fingers and whether it's a good or bad experience, I'll use it as a learning opportunity. I went back to look at my saved emails and I've ordered 42 iris from them to the tune of $364.00 which includes shipping. Their emails also say that due to the late bloom season they have in Colorado, they dig and ship in August and September. Where I am in the mountains of Virginia I typically get my first frosts around October 20th, so I should start thinking of a plan in case I don't get them until mid/late September. They do say that they ship the same day they dig, and their emails are very courteous and polite. I'm not going to worry over it - it is what it is. In future years though I'll stick to small orders when I'm ordering from someone the first time, and skip years so I can see how many NOIDs might come. I've read that they are elderly and have had some lackluster help in the past so maybe this year they have better help. We'll see! Thanks for all the comments!

I usually don't like to complain, but I'm guessing it's been around 10 years since I ordered from them. I know I ordered between 50-60 cultivars. I'd say about a quarter of them were wrong. I never asked for them to be replaced, but I never ordered from them again.

Barbara, there's a saying for that: "Once burnt, twice shy."

I feel the same after my experience years ago recounted above. Since them I have avoided ordering from them, except that last year, they were the only nursery I could find that had Buisson de Roses (Cayeux) listed. So I ordered that one rhizome from them, and nothing else. It did come up this spring, but barely. In my spring inventory it had two very weak fans. It did not bloom, so I don't know how long it will be before I can even verify whether it is the correct cultivar.

Daisy, I agree!
I know other vendors have occasionally sent a wrong cultivar, but they usually if not always fix the problem.

Years ago my friend and I went up to see Mid America, Keith Keppel, Sisters, and Schreiner's. The size of Schreiner's fields are amazing. What was funny about Schreiner's was in that field of blue iris was a single orange iris blooming. My thought was someone's going to get an incorrect iris sent to them. It happens.

I have always been quite happy with my orders from Mid-America and Schreiners. Never have I had an incorrect iris from either of them, and my orders from Schreiners usually bloom the first spring after planting.

Schreiner's sent me wrong ones too, and they did make good on them. They wouldn't replace those that didn't make the first winter though, and the last order I got from them were very dry and didn't bloom for 2 or 3 years.

Of my last three Schreiner orders at least one in each order was incorrect. Which is not a great thing for a well respected vendor. Especially as mine were smaller orders. Maybe they have gotten a bit too big, or their workers spread too thin. Who knows but getting incorrect iris is very frustrating.
