How many acres are you trying to fill, Cinta? Smiling Never mind, Cinta. I see on another post that you have 3 acres. That will keep you out of trouble. Smiling Is it all shade or do you have some sun gardens too? Smiling

I am trying to fill 3 acres. One acre I was trying to leave for the wildlife. At least 1 acre is mostly shade so the Hostas and ferns are going to be my main purchases.

Rolling on the floor laughing Yeah I saw that. I take donations. Anything anybody does not like send it to me. I will gladly send postage. I have probably almost paid off my local nursery mortgage. I have been catching most of their 75% off sales.

I have 10 acres more or less and so I'm filling most of mine up too. I have a lot of sun so I'm hitting the peony and lilies really hard. Hosta beds are pretty self sufficient and mostly mature...

That is a big piece of land you have their Ticker. Do you plan to garden all 10 acres? Any farming planned? I have a orchard on part of the land. I have a couple apples trees, pears, plums, cherries so far. That would help fill your 10 acres. A couple acres of orchards would be breathtaking.

I found some old Peonies on the property when I moved in. I moved some of my lilies from the old house. I have been adding to those for the sunny areas.

I found this fireplace at the back of the property. I am working on rehabbing and setting up a seating area.

I like the fireplace. Thumbs up We use to have quarter horses, but we didn't ride them so we moved them on to someone who would use them for something better than a large self-propelled compost making lawn ornament. We do have a couple apple trees and I do put in a good veggie garden. I have probably 3000 to 4000 sf of sun gardens spread out and then there are the hosta gardens. There is probably 2000 to 3000 sf of those. (all need weeding by the way). Rolling my eyes.

I need it to quit raining so I can weed and mulch stuff and get my tomatoes planted. Smiling Hopefully that will happen this weekend. Smiling

Praying for sun for you too Diane -- I am so depressed by all this rain. I think I am losing hostas now cause of the rain -- pulled one right out the other day that was mush!

Cinta -I love the fireplace!! That is a cool find! Hurray!

That shot was from a few years ago. That split rail fence gets high shade and yes, Asiatics will bloom just fine under high shade. But I'm replacing most of those lilies with Martagon lilies and so it looks a lot different now. I get it weeded I'll take a picture of it. Smiling

Just make sure you can give your lilies lots of high shade so that they get sun in the mornings and then shade in the afternoon. If they are in too much shade they will stretch for the light. Smiling But you know that. Smiling

This Fireplace is huge I kept looking to see if there was signs of maybe a house was in that area at one time but no signs of a house being there.

Diann those gardens are gorgeous. I have oriental lilies planted in with my hostas because my hosta garden is at my bedroom window for fragrance I planted the lilies and the fragrant hostas close to the bedroom window. That was why when I remodeled I put the Master bedroom on the the ground level.

The last house I had was all shade and I learned a lot of plants can grow and bloom with just 2 hours of light and filtered light. Some of them even bloom longer because they are not in the burning sun.

I am going to duplicate a design I saw in a White Flower Farm catalogue. They had Ostrich Ferns with Casablanca Oriental Lilies. I have a septic system and I want to do that over the leach field because I cannot plant anything with deep roots in that area and it is a part sun area.
