I'm looking for a way to make a layout of my iris beds with photos. I have several beds, and would like to be able to import a picture and place it where that color iris is. Is there such a program? Right now I am using a logo design program, and I can draw the beds and note (A, B, C) etc. where the plants are and then label them below the diagram, but I'd really like to have something with photos.
Thanks All!

There are several software options that can help you create a layout of your iris beds with photos. Here are a few suggestions:

Garden Planning Apps: There are various gardening apps available for smartphones and tablets that offer features for designing garden layouts. Some popular options include Garden Planner, Garden Design Ideas, and iScape.

Graphic Design Software: Programs like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator can be used to create a custom layout of your iris beds. You can import photos of the iris beds and arrange them on a canvas along with other elements like text or labels.

Garden Design Software: Dedicated garden design software such as Garden Planner, Realtime Landscaping, or SketchUp can provide more specialized tools for creating garden layouts. These programs often offer features to import photos, create beds, and arrange plants.

Thank you @SamsonGamble,
I am using sketch-up for the general layout - I didn't know you could import photos. I will look at the others. Thanks again!

Hello,

It's great to hear that you're already familiar with SketchUp! Yes, SketchUp offers the ability to import photos and texture maps. Here's a brief guide on how to do it:

Importing Photos: In SketchUp, go to File > Import. Make sure to select the type of file you're importing (e.g., JPEG, PNG) from the dropdown menu. Browse to the location of your photo and select it. Then, click 'Open'.

Applying the Photo to a Surface: After importing, you can click and drag your photo onto a surface in your layout. Adjust the photo's size and orientation as needed.

Texture Tweaking: If the image isn't aligning correctly or you want to scale it, you can right-click on the image and choose 'Texture > Position' to adjust its placement.

Additionally, you can consider incorporating top-down shots of your iris beds to give your design more depth and realism. This will provide a bird's eye view and help you visualize the layout more effectively.

For more detailed tutorials and community help, the SketchUp forums and YouTube have numerous resources.

If you need any more assistance or tips, feel free to ask. Happy gardening and designing!
