I think many times the cresting is cause by some kind of damage to the plant. I have had my S. 'Silver Stone' and one of my Lewisia crest. Both I know had sustained physical damage. The Lewisia was damaged by a weedeater.

That's interesting Lynn,I bought like a 9 pack of the 'Angelina' so it took me a while to get it all planted.It sat outside next to a bed,in the weather so i wouldn't have to worry about it dying.I just watered it once a week.So the hubby could have gotten to close or anything.

Whatever the reason, it is a bonus to find such an interesting growth pattern.

I will be sure and tell him what a wonderful thing he did,without even realizing it!!! He will love that but i will then have to tell him not being careful around my beds isn't always going to work out in his favor!!
