Thanx ...what I didnt show was how many clay pots adenium have broken (lots of them) - adeniums break pots, not just stretch & contort them

Yikes 😬 Mine have not done any of those yet. But my collections are juveniles. Hilarious!

And Obesums don't have huge caudexes like your arabicum.

I still can't tell the difference between obesum and arabicum and others I've read about! And my 3 haven't broken any clay pots yet, but those clay shards are great to save to use to cover up drainage holes... you must have a big extra supply.

My big fat "Lady Demure" is getting a pot upgrade in very early spring, but the next size clay pot I can find is over 8" and I'm afraid that'll be too large, but there's no 7" clay pots to be found here unless I get a deep pot. I'm very curious to see what the roots are like for that one.

A. obesum leaves are dark green and are smooth underneath
A. arabicum leaves are pale green and are hairy underneath

give your plants time to break pots ...

there are two ways to avoid broken pots .....one way is "lifting" or "raising" - the other way is to "up-pot" to next size larger

yep ...reuse pot shards for drainage -
