Ok, I'm out the door again in a few minutes but just wanted to take time to post two pic's from early this morning.

A male Red-bellied Woodpecker grabbed a chunk of peanut suet that I'd mixed in with the birdseed:

Rob, don't you just hate it when that happens! I have never seen the Rose-breasted Grosbeak, looks like a handsome male from the drawing in my field guide. Glad your seeing lots of hummers. Thumbs up

Lin, fantastic woodpecker pic! But when you have more time...you posted the same one twice. Can understand, I've done it also, once upon a time! I believe this is a Carolina Wren.Thumb of 2013-06-02/LindaTX8/0645b8

Linda, that is definitely a Carolina Wren! Aren't they the cutest little things? I wish I could see more of them; they're nesting again at our rental property but I don't get over there much to see them. I saw a few here in early spring but they left for parts unknown.

Oops ... I was in a hurry this morning and didn't mean to double post the WP photo! *Blush* Here's the baby Mockingbird in the Palm Tree. Seems like every morning it's in a different shrub or tree ... won't be long before it's flying with it's mom and dad!

The birds sure do get fed well at your place Lin. Great pictures!

My place is overrun with cowbirds lately. Usually I see them in the spring but then they dissapear. Not this year. Pretty birds and they have such a lovely call. But not great news for the other nesters.

*Blush* I must admit that I sometimes spend too much on food for the birds. I buy regular seed, dehydrated mealworms and suet; and then I end up thinking that I need to give them more variety so I sometimes add raisins, peanuts and dried berries ... along with sharing my trail mix. We have trees and shrubs in the yard that produce food for them too so they definitely are well fed! My husband says the birds know where to go for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks! But it sure is a great way to spend yout time. watching the birds. I just buy suet blocks and a common seed mix. The seeds are just thrown out on the driveway each morning as soon as I get up.

The squirills are chubby becasue they are well fed. Not trying to feed them but of course they come and eat the seed too. I don't really mind, I figgure everyone has to live.

Rita, I feel the same way. I've heard of so many folks who really despise squirrels and I know they can do damage if they get in your attic or whatever but I feel they are God's critters too ... and they have to eat. I just feel thankful that I can afford to throw out a little more seed to keep em' all fed. Green Grin!
