I'm sitting at the Syracuse N.Y. airport waiting for a flight south to Atlanta and then home. Weather has been dreary and rainy most of our trip but we did have two beautiful days in upstate N.Y. We've had a good time but we are tired and look forward to getting home!

Linda: Yep, female Brown-headed Cowbird and a (juvenile?) Northern Cardinal. Smiling Good pic's ... I sure look forward to returning home to my house and backyard birds!

I love watching ducks and geese and the other birds that prefer places with lots of water. Unfortunately the lake that at times was 12 miles away from us no longer is. There's still some limited body of water over by the dam, but it's farther away and I don't think there's any public access over there.

Linda: Did the lake dry up due to drought? We were in a severe drought until Tropical Storm Andrea came through a week ago and gave us some much needed rain. It's really early for having Tropical systems come through ... sure hope that's not a sign of what to expect this storm season!

I've lost a few pounds lately. Not sure why...unless it's the kefir I started drinking. Amazing stuff, even if it didn't have anything to do with me losing weight! I've got a couple of cats who probably should lose wieghts.

Silly Mr House wren is so busy stuffing nesting material into a backyard nestbox and singing away about his efforts. Meantime poor Mrs House Wren must be going ragged feeding those babies in the original box in the front yard which have not fledged yet. I tell him to cut it out and go help her but he doesn't listen! Hilarious!

Thanks Rita ... I just love the Doves, they are so pretty. I heard the Jays raising a ruckus this morning and went out on the porch to see a Hawk chasing a Dove. The Dove was doing a pretty good job of flying up and down, trying to maneuver to safety. They flew through the trees at a neighbors house so I don't know if the Hawk won the hunt ... but I hope it found it's breakfast somewhere else. Sad
