Oh my goodness, Kathy. Those are so beautiful! I love that second picture. What a lovely stroll that would be. I tip my hat to you.

This path evolved organically. I found that I was walking through the bed and between the plants making a path. So I decided to 'formally' create the path. All the gravel has come from the soil in my yard - I picked the stones out as I was digging up areas to put plants in.

Larry :
Sorry for the delayed reply.
I dug out the path so finished project would be flush with soil level. Layered 1" sand, then 2" slag sand, laid bricks, filled margins between bricks with slag sand then swept fine sand over top.
Maintenance: sweep fine sand to fill gaps between bricks occasionally. Pull an errant weed occasionally. Let green moss grow between bricks because I like the look.

Lots of pretty, welcoming and interesting paths!

@pgw33 I am so impressed with how you've used the stones and rocks you've dug up! Having dug out a lot of rocks here I know how much work has gone into the creation of your path. Bravo!!

Signet, your plantings' beauty would slow me down to a very slow crawl down those paths, so I could take it all in. So much to see and appreciate!

An antique gate leading to our back gardens. The bricks were hurriedly put there to keep our new dog from going underneath. Little devil Hilarious!

Also love all of the above. But I'm thinking maintenance on that stone rug must be torture unless they are bonded into a cement sheet underneath.

Oh, yes. If I took the trouble to make that stone rug, I'd sure put a cement foundation below !
