My ginkgo tree has grown quite large in 20 years and is right in the middle of my herb bed *Blush* ...I know bad planning on my part D'Oh!
....any way what herbs do well in the shade in your garden?

The bronze fennel garlic chives and lemon balm seem not to care
I also added sweet woodruff last year and it has spread

on the other hand the oregano grows well but has lost it's flavor

What do you grow in the shade?

Rosemary, catnip, mints, rootbeer plant, pothos, our heat is just too intense not to tuck everything I can under a shade or a tree.

Yes, I was thinking about the difference in our climates. In this area shade is necessary for things to survive.

Yup, I started to answer, then the same thing occurred to me. I even have tomatoes in the shade!

I do think culinary sage can tolerate half-day shade.

My rosemary is getting half day shade, oregano loses its flavor when over watered - not because of shade. In all honesty, the thyme, oregano have afternoon sun, so part day, but the catnip is under the asparagus ferns.
