When I had my dog out today, I watched him flinch, and when I checked his face I saw all of these green seeds stuck on his face.


I plucked them all out and they were only stuck in his fur. I'm just curious as to what they are so I can avoid this happening in my yard in the future. They seemed to be projectile, and launch onto him all at once when he sniffed a specific spot but I couldn't see anything obvious when I checked the area he sniffed.
I'd appreciate any insight into what plant these seeds came from! I live in Ontario, Canada if that is any help.

In Calgary, we are to weed out a "foxtail grass" which has long seeds which can lodge in pets digestive systems resulting in hefty vet bills.
