If forced to choose one blooming plant, would it be something that is almost always blooming, or something that blooms rarely or for a very short time each year for the excitement of the rarity of the bloom?

I don't think I could decide either. When picking container plants for the outdoors, it's almost 100% nonstop blooming flowers, so I think I would favor that if I really had to choose just one.

It's fun to anticipate something thrilling, but repeat bloomers often get my vote when I'm picking daylilies, irises, or roses. It's hard to find perennials that really bloom nonstop, but I want to have some color in my garden all the time, and that's in part why I plant annuals also, especially in containers.

I do have to say that when I first got some autumn re-blooming azaleas I was thrilled, thought I would never again get any other kind. But 20 years later, I still have not gotten used to seeing azalea blooms "out of season!"

Well....
Down south, in my droughty sand... lantana... four O'clock... canna... salvia

Annuals like cypress vine for the hummingbirds... And zinnia for the butterflies...

If I had space for a single plant?

?
I'd have to make a lot more space...

The ultimate unanswerable question?
Id probably go with more blooms if I really had to choose.
As it is, I question my futile efforts with plumeria, and this year even the pink Epi hybrid failed me. Granted these two examples are not all that attractive aaide from the flowers.

Then again, again, I have fave plants that never flower. Thinking I just want too many plants.
Plant it and they will come.

LOL! Amusing answers. I knew this crowd would choose to not make this choice!

I struggle with this when trying to decide on just a few plants in the face of full displays of tons of different plants. Struggle, struggle.

Almost always blooming. Folks here will post a picture of rare blooms so I can enjoy them virtually. I'm more of an instant gratification person๐Ÿ˜

Too many plants, not enough time, or room.

I would go with the long-time bloomers if i HAD to choose. Thankfully i have room to enjoy both.
