Does anybody know what this is? A damage spot that is rectangle in shape, usually just under 1/2" long. I've been seeing it on plants for years. It doesn't seem to affect the health but makes plants look terrible. especially Dracaenas & Epiphyllums. So similar to leaf miner damage, as if something gets in there to eat a little bit before maturing into - something. It's never in squiggly lines, just the rectangles. No combination of search words that I can think to try yields pics of this same damage.

These pics are terrible but it seems like something so common that I hope somebody can recognize it. Thanks for looking!

Hey:)

Nothing yet, sorry.

Seeing similarities to "bacterial streak, black rot, and blight " but not with confidence (google lens). Not familiar enough with them.

That said, my first thought was that it looked buggy. Could be the above mentioned and I don't know the difference.

Any sign of entry or exit holes from what might have done the damage?

If there's only one hole I'd poke around with a needle and see if anything entered and ate and died...

Thank you so much for your efforts! It's been a mystery for about 20 yrs.
