gg5 said:Pat it looks good! You really have a great bed there now! Hmmm maybe a couple more semps and another delosperma are in order! Rolling on the floor laughing Thumbs up If you're not having rainfall, be sure to water a little bit! Also remember what Lynn said about taking cuttings from the delosperma - all you have to do is stick them in the ground, they root super easy! Enjoy! I tip my hat to you.
Thanks!! I agree with you, I'd like to make the bed even bigger because it would make a nice solid plot for the area that I have picked to plant them lol.

How big is the area Pat. I am getting so excited thinking about what you are going to plant in it. Smiling

The total area is about 3 X 5 feet. I took Greg's advice to not let the semps be too close together, so in the plot, I'm unsure what to add...perhaps a type of cactus? I'm also thinking about a perennial border of some kind to give it a bit of shine, but don't know what to plant for that. What are your thoughts/ideas that I could do? Big Grin

How tall do you want the perennials to be? Any color preferences? How many semps are you planting?

That's likely the max amount of semps I will plant unless Mom wants some more lol. I'd like the perennials to maybe be about a foot or so high, and since semps change colors, color is not much of a concern I have Smiling

Some of the upright sedum?

Patty grows iris with her semps, and it is lovely. There are different types from miniatures to tall, in all different colors. They would make a very pretty backdrop for the low growing semps and delosperma.

Yes sedums are a good idea!! Also Iris like the same quick draining soil as semps/sedums so you could always add some later!! Have fun with all this new stuff Pat! Thumbs up Thumbs up

Which sedum is that Pat? Beautiful, so eye catching.
Here is a tall Sedum 'Autumn Joy' growing with some asters that are about the same height. The bees/bumble types also, and butterflies love both of them.

I like that, very nice! Someday I wish to build a butterfly garden, so I'll have to remember the Autumn Joy Smiling I'm not sure what that type of Sedum is, but still looking. I did a google search of "sedum pics", clicked on the 'images of sedums' and scrolled down. I guess it is used as a wallpaper pic, lol, but still trying to find out what type it is.

It could be Sedum oreganum.

Just need to let you know, we shouldn't post photos from the internet. We can post a link to the photo though. Thumbs up

Not to worry Pat, I have posted photos from the internet in the past, until some one explained to me why we shouldn't. Hopefully we never stop learning. Smiling

That makes sense, just glad to know this from now on Big Grin Yah, I love that quote. The first time I heard it, it took a while to stop laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Later today, I'm going back to the house but not sure if I will be planting a border. If I do, I'll definitely have pics to show. I do like the sedum, just hard to choose Hilarious!

Sedum grows super easy from cuttings. So if you have neighbors that are friendly about sharing, you could get lots of sedum easily! I tip my hat to you.
