We can currently see what images we or other members have posted by going to the relevant profiles page. A recent thread in Hosta highlights the potential usefulness of searching a genus by username.

ex. User A is a known Heuchera lover with lots of greats photos and experience. I could select Heuchera and user name A and see what they've posted.

What a great idea, thanks for suggesting it! This morning I implemented this feature. Here's how to make it work:

Go to the user's profile page (click on their username).

Then under "Plant Database Contributions:" click on the first link (their images).

Now you will see at the top a pulldown menu containing (alphabetically) all the genera of the images they have uploaded. Choose one and click Update View and you'll then see only images they have posted to that genus.

Works great! And it's fun to look at your own photos and see what genera you've uploaded.

I have a wild hibiscus growing and wasn't sure what it was, so in a burst of inspiration I went to Horntoad's profile and browsed the images he's posted of Hibiscus. Sure enough, there was my wild plant!!!

OK, so you have to start at the user profile level... I suppose it would be too much hassle to have it available in the plant database area as well? I'm just thinking that sometimes people don't know who they'd want to look at. For instance, I refresh my ATP home page and a beautiful daylily in random plants catches my eye. (yeah, it happens, and that's how I went from 2 dozen to 20 dozen daylilies in 18 months).

So I click on the random photo, and it shows me a beautiful picture by Calif_Sue. Now, if I want to see MORE daylily pictures by her, I need to click on her user name, then click on her database images, then click on hemerocallis. It would be ever so cool if I could just click a button next to the random image I looked at, that says "see more daylily pics by this user."

Just dreaming... but you know me, if the idea pops into my head, it has to pop out of my keyboard... Hilarious!

My son asked me for a similar thing today. He was pointing out that it is inconvenient to have to go to someone's profile in order to access their stuff or send them acorns or what-have-you.

But my logic for him was that if we add links all over the place, then things start to get cluttered.

Making it so that you can be certain that ALL options are available on the profile page for the member, then you get accustomed to just clicking their name and you have full access to all their stuff.
