I agree with Jill; some easier method of tagging would be welcome. I've spent quite a bit of time tagging the plants in my photos, only to find the boxes don't "stay" in the right locations. Then I have to delete them, start over, and it sometimes takes at least three efforts to make them right. It's a cumbersome process.

Well, this made for a great read. AND I learned something new. I did not know that some devises, like iPads and iPhones don't have the ability to tag.
That makes me see things in a different light.
It has always disappointed me to find a lovely photo without tags that can guide me in knowing the name and what that plant requires to grow well.
In my ignorance, I also did not think about contacting the person that posted the photo for more information.
Other than losing the ability to connect with the plant database, I can see that the untagged photos can still be enjoyed, and even helpful when contacting the owner.
Hope I made sense?

Yes you do! I think the disappointment is both ways, to be honest. Imagine uploading your beautiful combinations photo and then you want to link it to your database photos but you cannot tag it because you are using iPhone or IPad Shrug!

Now our smart Bea @bumplbea found a work around buy adding links of the plant combination photos to the chat thread, which is a good compromise to identify the plants though cumbersome.

This is in the chat thread link with photos:

It's just me, however I have some difficulty searching for threads. Couldn't find one for daylilies. Though I think Bea has a great idea I wonder if threads like that exist for all types of plants?

The plant combo pics could be so much more valuable if they had a date and location at least. A caption box could be used to add names for those who can't use the existing box-drawing facility - and whatever other info they feel like sharing.

The original puppies are grown by now, but new ones are still suffering...! LOL!
The thread "Date, location, caption for multi-plant photos" in Site Talk forum

I think of the combo pics as a way to connect a pic to more than 1 plant and without any connection, it seems like a pointless exercise to upload a pic as a combo. An untagged pic can only be found by scrolling through the pages of combo pics. By the next day, or sooner, it is literally lost in space without any info that could be of any use to a gardener in the future, should they happen to click "next" a hundred times.

Could connecting to a plant in the DB be separated from the action of defining where the plant is in the pic? Could one just add a list of plants that appear in the pic without trying to draw a box where they appear? If that is possible, then I do think it should be a requirement to connect the pic to at least 1 plant in the database, but not drawing the box if some devices can't utilize that part of the upload facility.

I stopped submitting plant combo photos I tip my hat to you. under the Plant Combinations since I have no way to tag them using my IPhone.

I do have a thread in the C&S for my own combo creations, if anyone is interested with just photos.

The thread "Mini Cactus and Succulents Garden" in Cactus and Succulents forum

And any of my Busch Gardens, Tampa, Fl photos are here:
The thread "Busch Gardens, Tampa Florida" in Florida Gardening forum

And most of my photos are in Adenium, Plumeria, Orchids and Cactus & Succulents Forum.
