Hello Everyone,

I was gifted two huge cuttings of a Peruvian Apple Cactus. I planted them in large terra cotta pots and used cactus soil. I did not water them because I read they only need water once a month. This was about 5 days ago. I went out took look at them and noticed some discoloration. Should I be concerned? What is causing it? Any tips you can bestow on me to ensure the plant takes root and grows healthy and strong? I will say where I put them it gets direct sunlight from about 10am to 3pm, is that enough?

Thank you for any help/advice you can give.

I presume those cuttings do not have any roots yet?

You will want to put them in an area where they get a little less sun. Not full shade, but clearly they are not liking the current amount of sun exposure they are getting.
There is no use in watering them until they have roots. So they will have to get by on any stored water/nutrients until they develop roots.
It is what it is!

Yes they were planted 5 days ago so I doubt they have sprouted roots yet. I will move them closer to the fence, that should reduce the amount of full sun they get. Thank you for at the advice!
