I have to get pics early in the morning when the sun is at my back, otherwise the sky is too bright and end up using the flash. With that angle, it's just too close and the pics aren't good.
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?

Taking pics in the sun is always difficult. I bring an umbrella with....
But the best times are on bright overcast days.

These two are always the first martagons to bloom for me. They are almost the first lilies I ever started from seed.

I agree, too, about overcast days except for my marts which are in pretty deep shade.

My marts. this year. Names magically erased from all labels, even the pencil writing is gone, some I know what they are but don't have my list handy.

I really like these panoramic garden photographs, especially when you don't understand Lily growth habits very well.

Thanks everybody. It still is stunning as they are all still blooming with some still to come. The best part that I wasn't expecting was the fragrance. This is the first year I've had this many and it really filled the air with a somewhat heavy scent far less sweet than the orientals and trumpets but still pleasant.

I noticed fragrance on my art this year too. Brocade smells exactly like an orange peel. Rosalinda has a similar scent but not quite as strong. I was out one day and I thought it was the compost bin and an orange that we had set out for the orioles that we had just freshly composted. But upon closer inspection, it was something quite surprising, a martagon.
