This is my first time reseeding my grass so I'd like to know the proper steps please. I assume fall is the best time to re-seed. Below are the steps I'm planning to do.

1. Putting compost on the grass and blank spots (Work in progress)
2. Buy grass seed. I don't know what my grass is. Can you tell? I attached a pic of it
3. Spread the seeds
4. Water it. How often should I water it after putting down the seeds please?

Use a sprinkler on a hose and at least twice a day for ten minutes each time.

For how long please? water for one week after putting down the seed? I'll reseed next month after putting down the compost this month.

After seed germination: once a day for 30-45 minutes evert day, depending on weather, after one week of that , drop to 2 to 3 days a week and then once a week.
Weather and temp. makes a difference.

How well the lawn looks will let you know how you are doing.
There are ZERO absolutes on this and I do it from experience, that is how you will have to learn.
I do it now by guess and by gosh from experiece.
