Pics were taken in eastern Nebraska in September. I'm presuming it's probably some kind of Orb Weaver because it was pretty big, and because of the round web. BTW, the bee got away.

It is an orb weaver. That's a large grouping and there are many similar types and markings vary with light and location. I think that one generally comes under the category of "barn spider" but again, I'm not sure how specific that name is. Possibly Araneus cavaticus.
