Oh please help . I've had this big girl for over 30 years. I've transplanted her several times with no issues. This time I decided to use a Tropical potting soil (MG) as I read somewhere that these big Philodendrons need peat moss. What a big mistake. I separated a few in the pot as it was very crowded. She became so droopy and wilted as the soil remained quite damp for 10 days after watering. My friend said to get her out of that damp peat and go back to regular potting mix and to add pearlite . So that's what I've done and I can't seem to snap her out of it. She's still so droopy it's making me cry. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you !

Good drainage is always important but I am also wondering if your philodendron is just suffering from transplant shock. Another thought is that it is easy to damage roots when dividing plants and it is possible a few need to regenerate. As long as you have lightened the soil mix I would just give it time.

Gina, your thoughts?

I agree. You've disturbed the root system and put it through some major stress. Now that you have it in a permanent potted situation it may take a while for it to recover
