Thread OP
orange county, New York State.
What's a great privacy tree to block my neighbours 2nd and 3rd story windows? I need to cover an area that's about 10 feet wide at 3rd story level.... I planted green giants, but starting to worry they won't ever get wide at that height. Everywhere I read about green giants it says they'll grow to 60 feet tall, but have you ever seen one that tall? I feel like I never see green giants taller than 20 feet.

I'm in upstate New York zone 6a.

The area where I want to plant it is about 10 feet square and has direct morning sun only. The rest of the day it's shaded by norwegian spruces.

I've so far considered white pine (worried it will get too sparse), norwegian spruce (worried it will grow too slow), Maple (seasonal only), ginkgo (seasonal), hemlock (worried about diseases and not enough water) American Holly (worried it will grow too slow)

I'm not sure most things would reach a 3 story height in one person's lifetime,... most people would end up moving by then anyway. Beware of anything that grows super fast, many of those have very invasive root systems (think ruin your pipes, crack your foundation) and also are usually short lived.
