Wanting more beautyberry on the property for my backyard wildlife habitat.
I live in zone 5 Michigan but am willing to try other zone plants.

Seeking fall berries/seeds for winter sowing. (you can send berries and I can prepare)
Or small shippable seedlings.

Currently have 2 Callicarpa americana...I'm looking for others types of Callicarpa.
Let me know if you can help out. Tell me what you have and what you may want for them.
Thank You
Marie

I have Callicarpa dichotoma 'Issai' berries if that interests you at all. I imagine you are looking for some of the newer ones. But you might want to consider keeping your collection native as they do reseed a little.

LorettaNJ, I would love to try some of your berries.
Do you eat them or make anything with yours?
I heard some are sweeter than others.
Can you tell me about how tall yours have grown?
What can I give you for some?

I live in north Florida and still have berries on my beautyberries. Wildlife is partial to them and there are about 40 species of birds that love them. How much do you want? Most of my plants get to about 3.5 to 7 ft tall.

Dragonkeep, love the name by the way.......... I just want some to try starting. I've never been great with seeds, but I have been learning these past few years and have been seeing improvement on my skills.
I will accept any amount but wish to keep the cost low if possible. I have a wildlife habitat, unfortunately I can no longer afford purchased food for them BUT I have been putting in plants for them since starting the habitat.
I'm not sure but 10 berries or anything really would be fun to try.

Kenny, I have seen white beautyberries and they are really white. However, they will turn brown as the weather gets cold.

Elfenqueen, I only leave the berries for the birds and for me to look at. I never tasted them. I suppose the size is about 3' more or less. I do clip it back either all the way or just the winterkill. I will treemail you.

I have Callicarpa americana, var lactea, or White Beauty Berry. Now is a good time to collect the berries, before the Mockingbirds get to them all. They are good winter-sowing subjects.

Edited to add, treemail me an address and I'll gather some.

Didn't realize until this thread there was a white version. I'll have to say something to my native nursery person next year if I remember.

I'm not sure they are native. I'll have to look. OH! I see they are. I guess I will ask for a few too.

I am very delighted with the offers I've seen.

The only thing missing is Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana 'Welch's Pink') She's not for my zone but I sure would try her if offered.

I will leave this post open for a while to see what else shows up here. Maybe someone can help someone else as well. And did send a tree-mail to kennysh about the white.

I tend to go a little nutty when I love a plant. When covid first hit and I had no bingo or casino to spend my monthly entertainment allowance on, I decided I love my epimediums Sticking tongue out so I bought over 20 different kinds nodding during those two years.

Someday my land will be full and awesome for the wildlife. It's folks like you that have been helping me build the habitat. Thank You so much.

JL Hudson has at least 2 one is the white one:

—Callicarpa americana var. lactea. (100) CALI-4A. Packet: $2.50
'WHITE BEAUTY BERRY'. Very attractive form with abundant white berries loved by birds. To 6 - 8 feet, with slightly cascading branches. Blooms mid-spring. Choice and rarely seen. Prechill 12 weeks.

I highly recommend Hudson, has many natives and unusual seeds, very reasonable prices and not dead or fake seeds like certain internet sites ae known for.
