Thread OP
Victoria, Australia
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can please help identify this eucalyptus in my back yard in Victoria, Australia. I'm wondering if it is fast growing / at risk of falling as it is tall enough that it would hit the house. We bought the house 3 years ago and it's hard to tell if it has grown much in that time. Thanks in advance!

I'm not an expert on Eucalypts, but my guess would be red ironbark.

Red Ironbark (Eucalyptus sideroxylon)

I agree
It's a beautiful example of a wonderful tree. Most of them in southern California are the red-flowered form. The red/black bark is a nice contrast to most other trees and would be cool mixed with Corymbia citriodora. It's my favorite big Eucalyptus.

Thanks 😊. Does anyone know how tall these trees tend to grow, or if they are prone to limb loss/uprooting? I'm trying to avoid having to get it cut down.

The second link I included should help with that. I don't think you ned to have it removed:

Apparently it is less prone to dropping limbs than other Eucalypts and has high resistance to rotting. It is slow growing, reaching up to 35m in height.
