Hi all!

I'm looking to purchase a variety of elephant ear where that leaves are huge so they can cover up my front window since the sidewalk is 5 feet from my porch. When I look on Google, I come across sites that don't look very legit. I'm also open to purchasing a bulb.

Thanks all!

Peter, last month I purchased an Alocasia from Lowes that is really big. It's called a
Portora Alocasia and it gets to 5-6 ft tall and it's leave are huge. Mine is still in it's pot and I will plant it when the days get a bit longer. Please google Portora Alocasia and see if that will fit your problem.

I have a couple of Thai Giants in my backyard. But without regular rain, they don't get as big as this with simply watering.

@floriday thank you for the recommendation! I will definitely take a look. Looks like a lovely plant.

I grew it in a container, put it in the basement during the cooler part of the year (Oct-May)πŸ˜€
Neighbor grew it on the side of his house, in the ground, full sun with radiant heating from the siding, got close to 9' tall.

yeah... I was going to say that...
best I've seen were growing under dripline next to house... where the soil was clay and there were seep springs all through the yard...

at my house in the sandhills, the ones [elephant ears] that survive are planted in rigid tubs...

I purchase colocasia Jack's Giant corms from Caladiums4Less.com. They have the lowest price you will find, and the owner sends HUGE corms and answers your growing questions. Jack's Giant, with plenty of fertilizer and water, becomes a huge tropical plant, and remains in-ground in my zone 8B garden. FYI: The grower also offers the largest caladiums at the best price.
