I have been a member of this site for only about two months and am still finding my way around. I have already posted a good number of photos and enjoy the responses they bring. However, I am not sure why a photo I posted a week ago which brought a modest response has suddenly in the last 24 hours brought a flood of thumbs. Where are these wonderful people all finding the same photo at the same time - a week after its posting - and responding? Is there a particular forum or similar that I'm not aware of... and should be?

Perhaps the photo was in the most recent Newsletter?

On the Home page there is a "Fun Random Plant" and "Photo of the Day" feature so it's perhaps because one of your photos has featured there. Or in the newsletter as Nancy says.
Also people searching the database may come across your photos if you've added them there.

Thank you, Murky and knifophia. Both spot on! In the 'Recently Popular Photos', it's there, thanks, knifophia - the Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet'. And Murky, although not in this week's newsletter, I see two of my photos in the newsletter of December 23, the Kalmia and the Rose 'Starry-Eyed'. Woohoo! Thanks again to you both. Just off to check previous newsletters and yes, I have now subscribed to them.

Many members have their homepage set to show recent photos added to the plant database, so each time a new photo is uploaded to the database it will appear on the homepage and other members can give it a thumbs up.

A quick way to access all of a member's database additions is to access their profile by clicking on their name then go down to "Plant database contributions". With all contributions in one place it is easy to go through and give each a thumbs up.
