I joined this group hoping to identify 2 plant orphans I rescued from a throw-away pile...just can't abide disposing of a live thing.

I'm hoping someone here can recognize these or, at least, point me in a correct direction to learn names and growing information.

Thank you.

Thank you, greenriverfs, for such a prompt response.

I did some researching now I have a possible name...are you thinking a Spoon Jade (Crassula ovata 'Hobbit')...?

Again, Thank You!

The first one perhaps a fig tree? The second is a crassula. Have no idea the variety.

Certainly a succulent, and one of our members should know which one, but wrong color for C. ovata.

I agree, Plant #1 looks like a variety of Ficus benghalensis, possibly the popular cultivar 'Audrey'. Banyan Tree (Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey')

My thanks to each of you for reading / responding to my post.

@sallyg, I'm going with Graptosedum for the succulent - possibly Francesco Baldi, Blue Giant or Golden Glow.
I will research growing conditions for each and create a 'something in the middle' care plan until I see more growth which may point me in the right direction....fingers crossed for plant survival.

I do appreciate the response I received here - the non-succulent seems a bit of a mystery...definitely was for me. Smiling

@Hotica & @plantladylin, I'm going with Ficus Benghalensis/Audrey and will report back on progress.

See if this matches a leaf of your plant. This is Ficus lutea aka 'Nekbudu' which is fairly common in the marketplace right now, at least in Florida.

After looking at F. benghalensis, I think previous posters are correct with that ID. Odd that it and lutea are so similar... but there you have it!

Imonkeypants, keep in mind that both of these ficus want to be a gigantic tree, benghalensis tops out at 100 feet. I see you're in Arizona, so don't plant it in the ground, especially near the house since roots can lift and wreck the foundation. Folks in Florida make that mistake with F. elastic, the common Rubber Tree, another giant if given the chance.

Is there a free app site for phones that is free. Take a picture of a plant and it'll tell you what it is and a lot. Thanks

I googled "free plant identification apps" and this was the first answer. You can do the same, then explore the various options to decide which you want to try. In addition, if your phone has Google Lens, that's an option. I don't know what comes loaded on iPhone.

Remember, no apps are perfect and sometimes they're way off. Around here, many of us use them as a starting point, then do further research to confirm or dispute.

My iPhone has a plant ID app built in. It's not a new model (iPhone 11, I think). Any photo stored on your phone which resembles a plant will trigger an ID icon to appear underneath it. Again, it's certainly not always right, but I've been occasionally pleasantly surprised with a correct ID.
