Laurie @lauriemorningglory , yes, the buds are pink. It opens up in to white blooms with a pinkish tinge. Very fragrant. Mine is Daphne 'Aureomarginata Rosea'. I was given mine in a small pot by a landscaper. They are hard to get in my area but a good garden center should carry them. Not sure what their zones are for growth. A bonus is that they form a rounded bush that really never needs pruning.

The Daphnes here are in my neighbor's yard and I have never seen Japanese beetles on them. We don't seem to have many Japanese beetles here; I seldom see more than one or two.
