SummerBee, thank you for posting that video about Christian Cooper. I loved it. I remember who he was, of course, but it's so nice to see his success. I loved that he is not only a bird fanatic but a Trekkie. He is a natural in front of the camera. Great profile. I will look up his show on National Geographic. I will also send this clip to DH. He is just getting into birds after I have been a birder for many years...not because I loved birds, but because one of his male colleagues is a newbie birder. They take walks together, and before I knew it, DH was asking me questions about bird song and had installed the Merlin app on his phone. He can now recognize several birds like the Northern Cardinal and Carolina Wren. Hurray!

That's awesome, Nan! Hurray! Yes, that's often how DH's find new hobbies....of course not thru their wives. Hilarious! I hope you two can enjoy the experience together. I have become more of a bird lover since moving to the woods. I see so many just looking out my kitchen window and sitting on my front porch. I have yet to download the Merlin app but probably will soon.
I, too, enjoyed that segment and look forward to watching his show. I know the segment was about more than birding (might be too "political" for some) but that's what I liked about it...hearing his backstory and how it related to the incident in Central Park. There were some funny parts mixed in too which I always appreciate. Love that he can do the Spock eye. 🖖🏻😆
And finally....I hope that lady got some much needed help. And that her dog is okay (and leashed in public).

ETA: I also agree with him being a natural in front of the camera. I just found his show on Hulu. 🐦

Also...did you watch Marcel? 🐚

And SummerBee--I have not watched marcel yet. However, it is on my radar. I tend to take a long time to work myself up to watching anything. DH can vouch for that.

My severely neglected seedlings from last year are undeterred by my laziness.... Thinking of starting more seeds soon 🤔 but no place to put them. 🤷🏻‍♀️
As you can see...these babies are still "flying solo (cup)"! 😂 They're covered in nature's "leaf mulch" (This pic is after I partially cleaned them out) and there's lots of weeds in there but they don't care. Lovey dubby

ETA: I'm actually pretty excited about some of these seedlings as there are some Neon Flamingo🦩 crosses and that one is very hard for me to get a successful cross out of. I think they are mostly pollen parents as setting a pod on NF is difficult but I'll have to look more closely at tags.

My raised bed is falling apart and needs to be cleaned out. So over plant tags, too.... especially in the raised/seedling bed. None of them stay put! 😣

Exciting seedlings, SummerBee. Thumbs up
You will find a way. I am always imagining new ways to slice more off the yard for daylilies (as we all are, no doubt).

You do not need markers if you have a map of your raised bed, instead. The only trouble I can imagine is if a squirrel digs out 2 or more and you are unsure which goes back where. But that would also happen with markers present, too.

Although, now I see how many you have in each cup (in one I stopped counting at 14), that is gonna be a very large bed. Or are you taking a selection from each cup to go into the bed, and keeping the others as a backup?

My ground is SO rocky here it's not easy creating/planting new beds. My back is severely 🤬 from summer 2020. It comes and goes and has gotten better but planting so many seedlings into the ground that year really did a number on me (and I'm much too young to feel this damn old!).

Here's part of my raised bed right now....I did not want to share this. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Hilarious!
It was good in theory but hasn't held up well. Only a couple years old. Built on uneven ground so one end is sturdy/built into the ground and the end pictured...not so much. I may just remove the top level but then it wouldn't be "raised" much. Better than in the ground though I suppose. Shrug!

Thumb of 2024-03-25/SummerBee/1454a4

Squirrels are definitely the biggest problem in there. I had it pretty packed with seedling but have moved a few and some died for whatever reasons mostly in the middle of the bed but I did plant them in cross groupings so it may have been an issue with the cross and not the placement in the bed.

I'm thinking of ways to start some new beds. I don't have enough sun here except of course where the septic system is. Thumbs down

I appreciate your encouragement though. You're right... where there's a will, there's a way! Hurray!

Hey Summerbee, what I'm up to? Pretty much trying to ignore the weather until it warms up.

Gone overboard of recent with the crafts via online shopping (Holly Hobby) and my moms (free). So I have been obsessing about getting some crafts completed before the nice weather. I definately wont be a basement dweller when it warms up.

Plan on getting the rest of my daylily seedlings, or at least more of them outside later this week. They will be put in my ghetto greenhouse. (Which I haven't checked on in over a week) Blinking I also just listed the rest of my daylily seed inventory in the classifies here. BOGO Spring sale if anyone's interested. Whistling

And it sounds like both of us are raising Neon Flamingo kids. Hurray! Last year I managed to get one pod from Neon Flamingo. Can't remember at the moment what I crossed it with though. Thinking I'll have to look that one up.

OMG, K....I was going to ask if you had come back up from the basement yet. Guess not... 😆

I seriously need to get down there and clean mine out. Such a daunting thought/task. It's scary, mostly organized, chaos. 🫣

Sounds like you've definitely been bitten by the crafting bug!? Will you be selling some things at craft shows with your mom or is this just mostly for fun?!

Congrats on some Neon Flamingo kids!! Hurray! Can't tell you how frustrating it is working with that plant!! Best of luck selling your seeds. 💐
