I wouldn't have thought to put these two colors together, but it actually looks good--like tropical fruits! Rolling my eyes.

Nancy, you should come spend time on the Daylily threads here at NGA…lots of eye candy, especially starting real soon as the Southern gardens get going! I have a thread, Zoia's Daily Daylilies, where I post a section of my extensive gardens every day, another place to ogle daylilies out of season.

But then I end up wanting sooo many more daylilies that I wouldn't have room for! Hilarious! But maybe I can dig up some of the common daylilies and plant the specials in between for different colors...

Those regular Daylilies are a pesky nuisance, they send runners underground to make more of themselves. I dig them out every year and every year they make more anyway.

Mine just multiply in place and don't ever spread beyond their border so they just look fuller each year. Never had them send up even one daylily in the lawn area (really lots of weeds that I keep mowed). I had common milkweed that did what you describe, sending runners out even 15' away from the main plants. I dug those up and moved them behind the garage where they could over run that area and I'd be happy. And so would the monarchs.
