It's a darn shame! I just don't understand why this country can't clean up its act on unsafe pesticides and GMO crops!

Well, Linda's signature line sums it up pretty darn well. I copied it below.

"I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority."

E. B. White had one of those great minds and he was quite an author. I really believe in what he said in that quotation. Mankind has destroyed too much of the natural world already. It's such a shame!

I don't know how long this driveway is or what was growing in it but 25 gallons of RU is a lot.

Just today I received an email from one of the organizations that gives me heads up on a variety of problems that need to be addressed. It was about the pesticides that are killing off bees. I signed a petition about it.

Thank you for the link dormantsrule. I have been wondering for some time now if honey has become bad for us. After all, the bees produce honey from the nectar of these "toxic" plants.

Recently, a native plant group in a nearby town was trying to find caterpillar-safe milkweed plants to buy. It turns out it's just almost impossible. Of the two native plant nurseries in the area, only one verified they truly don't use pesticides on the milkweed at all, but that one couldn't supply many of the milkweed species they wanted this year. They were working with an organization that grows milkweeds for the Monarchs, but then the organization's grower sprayed the milkweed plants when beetles showed up that eats milkweeds. Don't know...it pretty much is true that people need to grow their own plants if they want plants that are truly safe for the insects...or for us, for that matter. Darn shame, too. I'm going to collect Texas Milkweed seeds this year for that one native plant grower that grows pesticide-free milkweed. Doesn't look like I'll have a lot of it...the high heat this summer made the plants shut down on producing seeds, except for a single pllant. Maybe they'll flower again when the heat ramps down in the fall.
