New leaves on my schefflera are turning BLACK! It's new growth which I thought meant she was recovering, but now I don't know. I use a hydrometer to make sure it's neither dry nor water logged. It is in the humid conditions of a bathroom.

First pictures shows a blackened leaf.

This is a "rescued plant". 2nd picture is condition of old leaves I inherited.

What was involved in the rescue? Water for a thirsty plant? Some form of repotting? Is there a window in the room? Are you able to add a pic of the whole plant with pot, from the side?

It was misleading to call it a "rescue" victim. It was my own carelessness! I was away and didn't water it well--a year or more ago, and it suffered greatly, dropped leaves, etc. But it started a comeback. Right now I suspect it needs repotting. I'll try that next.

I was hoping someone might have seen that totally black leave thing. I've never seen it before.

Picture below is a couple of years ago when it was at it's best.

Agree, I'd like to hear more about it too. When my Scheffs drop leaves, they usually fall off green, sometimes a little yellow. Happens every fall when I bring them inside.
