The app says C. rapunculoides. I am not familiar with it so can't confirm.

The database shows it to have leaves that almost embrace the stems - quite different.

This plant/weed/whatever is still going strong, getting bushier and a bit taller. It still has no signs of buds forming yet, just new leaves coming in, so maybe it flowers in fall? It reminds me of bidens that have been on the opposite side of the yard, but these are more lime green and the bidens were a darker green with the toothed leaves. I'm still clueless what it might be.

I'm thinking eupatorium serotinum...

That looks like a possibility and doesn't sound bad at all to have around. Probably still need to wait until flowers to really confirm what it is. I'll just keep watching it for any buds at this point.

It does not look opposite leafed to me as I think E serotinum is.
Plant it and they will come.

Searching lens turned this guy up:

Seems a common theme...

The other options all seemed to have opposite leaves rather than staggered...

That doesn't sound too bad to keep around either. Some sites list it as invasive in some areas, but where it's at can get very dry in the summer heat, so I doubt it'll ever be a real problem here. Still I'll keep an eye an it, but so far, that seems the most likely of all the suggestions.
