There seem to be umpteen varieties, but they all look the same to me.

Wait until the leaves come out and it should be really easy to determine the variety.

Well, it's blooming right now and the leaves should be popping out within the next week or two.

There are more hybrids, probably, than I dream of. But I think even my backyard 'wild' Cercis canadensis can have red on the tiny new leaves at first.
100% Cercis, need to watch as leaves develop more to guess further.
Plant it and they will come.

It doesn't look quite dark enough for Forest Pansy and the growth habit seems too low and spreading. There are some new varieties that are weeping or prostrate with gold/orange foliage.

I don't think my backyard Cercis ever had that much color. So, some cultivar, I'd expect.
Here's my wild ones, descended from what we bought for Mom 40 years ago and whatever wild genes have mixed in.

Cercis is planted a lot around here now, commercial landscaping.
Plant it and they will come.

The largest leaf so far:

I'm unsure of the order of these things, do the leaves come after bud development or in adjacent to?

All I know bloom on bare branches, then get leaves.
Plant it and they will come.

That's the process. If you look close, you can see that they bloom directly out of the trunk on buds that don't grow leaves.
