I thought it was Smooth Blue Aster (Symphyotrichum laeve) but looking at pictures in our database, I'm not so sure. They are from a floral arrangement.

Hey Lucy, thanks so much but can you by any chance offer more specifics like a genus name? Bachelor's Buttons (Centaurea cyanus) is the only plant I know with the common name of Bachelor's Buttons and it looks nothing like the flowers in my photo.

The plant looks like a Bachelor Button but the flowers not so much. They are aster flowers. I think you have it right about it being Symphyotrichum but not the one you suggested.
