Oh boy, Clownfish! I love this plant! It hasn't been extremely prolific but it's getting better every year…the flower is really unique.
Purchased from Northern Lights Daylilies in 2021, it was planted on Middle Daylily Hill in May. That first October, Clownfish had ( supposedly) 6 fans but it's possible I mistook a grasslike weed for foliage…it happened in a few places that year.
In April 2022, it was at 4 fans and bloomed from June 30- July 15 with 8 blooms counted. It got knocked badly by drought that year and by October was at one fan.
In April 2023, it was back to 2 fans and flowered from June 30- July 22, with at least 11 blooms. That makes it an EM here. By October, Clownfish was up to 3 fans and this April, started the season with four fans.
I feel like this plant is a fighter and is working hard to establish itself. The blooms are really beautiful. I'm not sure why he named it Clownfish as the flower is not orange and white but it is very graceful, usually perfect and a great cherry pink and purple with white edges. I'm looking forward to a good season this year!
