Something strange on the stem of one of my Brugs. Any clue what it is? The branches just split like a under-watered tomato. I cut it off and trashed it but I would still like to know what it is and how to prevented it.

Hi JT,
It seems to stump a few experts. Leave it to me to find something new! It looks like some of the tomatoes. You know... when you don't water it regularly to tomato splits like that. Weird.

Thanks

Ran it past Liz. She thinks it is Pith Necrosis.

Yep. That is what is was. I cut off the bad stem, ran a bunch of water to leach it and put it in the shade. It was a over dose of nitrogen. That was a relief. I will stick to 20-20-20 from now on!

Good thing you cut it. Could have developed into something else.

That is kind of what I thought. Did not want to leave large wounds open to develop into something else. I used a grass fertilizer with too high of a nitrogen count. Will not ever do it again! Rolling my eyes.
