My neighbor gave me some rose cuttings early in January and told me to stick them in the ground and they would root. I haven't checked on them in a while but I did look last month and two out of 5 looked like they had rooted.
MsRobin gave me some to root last year and they rooted well until the dogs took a liking to the unprotected pots with little nifty chewable baggies and sticks in them.......:(
ruh oh. I fell asleep reading the instructions last night. its raining here now and someone (i dont know if they were teasing) said they were predicting snow tomorrow night!! i was hoping to do both clematis and rose cuttings tomorrow.
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.
I did hear a forecast of snow at the higher elevations. Hope it wasn't for you there Phyl. We were at 37 this morning But suppose to be at 70 by Wednesday. Plants here sure do take a beating!
ditto! Raked more leaves, moved cinder blocks, dug rocks out (previous owners used them for edgings set on their sides) and used them to begin a rock garden for some sedums I found planted in the shade here. Dug up ditch lilies for the garbage, moved a plant I don't know the name of but have seen before. Leaves are like swords and will get a scape with white flowers on top. Roots are really thick tubers about 2" to 3" across and white on the inside. Looks like something someone somewhere would eat. Dug out bricks that were used to make a pointless circle in the lawn off to one side. Picked up sticks too. Was hoping to get more done today but it's raining.
This looks like a good place to ask this question..
When we lived in Richmond, VA DH planted a rambler named Crimson Glory...it was beautiful on the white board fence and arch way he had built....I have never seen it since...have any of you ever heard of this Rose? Jo
Yes...as an after thought...and they were either sold out...not in stock...or in the UK...they are very fragrent. I tried to find one before my DH died...after moving to AZ...no luck...
I must say that I was very plesantly suprised to find beautiful Roses growing here in my area...Jo
Jo, I found a catalog from Antique Rose Emporium that I had gotten a month or so ago, and they offered Crimson Glory roses, however when I checked the website just now, they are out of stock. the picture is gorgeous! i can see why you'd want one.
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.
Name: Audrey---Doe 41--- Warren South East Missouri I'm a Charlie's girl, too!
Don Juan is a BEAUTIFUL rose! I also looked at and almost bought, Mr. Linkoln, at Lowe's earlier! The huge deep red but was almost 3 in. long! It will probably be gone when I go back!
I received a Desert Rose today from a new friend. I had never seen one of these before! I'd be really excited if I didn't feel so bad! It has 2 pink buds!
Has anybody seen 'Roseberry Blanket' locally? http://www.jacksonandperkins.c... I am having serious plant lust over this one, but don't want to order from J&P/Park's based on their Watchdog reviews.
J&P was a very good supplier. There seems to be some trouble now that they are part of Parks. I've had no trouble buying J&P roses at a real store. Those roses go through the normal wholesale channels, and you can actually check out the roses before you buy them. It's the reviews on mail order service that look dismal.
Jo,
If you haven't already found one, Antique Rose Emporium has Crimson Glory back in stock. http://www.antiqueroseemporium... Note that it wouldn't ship until fall since they won't ship roses during the summer months.
