Easier to call it with its nickname Eve's needle..though my hubby likes to call it shrimp scampi Big Grin ..long name.Austrocylindropuntia subulata.

With stepped up watering, the plant has finally straightened up better and getting nicely fattened up. Been watering it now everyday as temps has been over 100F outside.

tarev, I am always amazed at the variety of tender and non tender succulents that you have shared with us. And when you told me you have been watering twice a day during this hot spell, I do not feel bad anymore about watering things every other day when I usually water once a week or twice at the most. Smiling Green Grin!

Thanks Bev Smiling Spring this year was drier, and it seemed the succulents did not get enough water stored..so I find they are much thirstier this summer plus this summer is really hot too. I really needed to re-think my watering regimen..I also used to do it once or twice a week only.

That's amazing! If you hadn't written the name of it, I would have sworn it was mutant plumeria cuttings! Back here, on the other side of the continent I've had to move all of mine into the greenhouse it's raining so much .. just this morning we had a micro burst that dumped 2 inches of rain in about 15 minutes according to my rain gauge and the floor of my greenhouse is under 1 inch of water! About the only things loving all this rain we are having are the hedychium, curcuma, and costus gingers as well as all the elephant ears. My yard is like a swamp!
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Oh..I hope the water drains out fast soon. Yeah I would imagine your tropicals will love that volume of rain, in the Phils, where there are lots of those, the volume of torrential moonsoon rains is like that..tons of water in a flash.

Our forecasts here says there may be some heat relief by Saturday, like it will not breach the 100's but just at the mid 90's range. I will gladly take that, and maybe I will have to go back to my old once or twice a week watering. Smiling
