Check your local weather forecasts! There are frost advisories for some parts of the state.

Can you believe we went from 90's to threats of frost in less than 2 weeks time? Thumbs down We haven't had a chance to enjoy our fall gardening weather yet, and now it's time to start bringing in tender plants for the winter. I SO need to clean out the garage before hauling all my plants inside.

I know its sad we wont have a fall blooming before the frost hits us.

I can see we'll need to keep an eye on you Sarge! You're a character! Rolling on the floor laughing

Robbie, I have some absolutely huge, gorgeous mums that are just now starting to open their buds. I have no fall leaf color at all yet on my trees, and I have 2 full bags of bulbs sitting in the garage, mocking me, because I haven't planted them yet. I'm not ready for cold. Crying

Old Jack Frost came Creapen around last night he just was not to quiet . I am not one to be trifled with and don't like folks Tip toeing around at night around the place. and most folks in the country know if you come look'en for trouble you'll get it at a country Farm House .

Some One forgot to tell Ol Jack Frost that well I Did Not Shoot him so to speak! Rolling on the floor laughing However, He Will Be Hanging around for a while . I got My Water Hose out and Squirted Him as he tried to jump from the roof and he is stuck on the eve of it . Hurray! that will teach him to come poken his nose around here at night after all the warm weather we have had. Whistling

knoxred,
I have a few mums blooming and trying to bloom now i have been covering them at night with sheets
so i can have them around until the first hard freeze we get.

Sarge,
i hope Jack stays away for at least a few more weeks but I'm keeping my eyes on him in case he tries to check out my yard.
I'm just not ready for the cold weather yet and was hoping for a few more growing weeks for a bunch of my plants.
The seeds aren't ready yet so i hope they get ready before the first freeze.

I'll agree with that Robbie,

Ol Jack frost can stay away for a bit longer we have a good week of warm weather and I am trying to build a Lil coop now i got the base done today. although I had to bring in most of my plants already due to the fact it does get colder here faster in the valley than most places .

I'm really ready for that fall color now. Here's the unremarkable leaves dropping on the driveway under the redbud. The especially ugly crumpled ones are from the silver maples, which I inherited from the previous owner. If silver maples have a redeeming quality, I haven't found it yet.

The dogwoods in our area are definitely turning color, and there's some good color around the edges of the red maples, but no real wow moments so far. The mums I was worried about blooming are now in their glory.

Today was spent entirely in the yard and the weather was just perfect. All my bulbs are in the ground and I got the mowing done...a good day's work.
