There shouldn't be anything noticeable, but I made a huge amount of internal changes to the code of ATP this morning. If you notice anything on the site that's suddenly not working, please report it to me. I'm not expecting any reports, though.

Help, I can't get the clicked on/enlarged pictures to go away on my screens after clicking outside the picture and the exit "X" is not on the picture to click on.

Am able to click within the pictures and move forward and backward but can't get rid of picture.

Bottom of pictures have this printed on bottom:
Import to databaseimage 2of 5nextpreviousclose

It's working fine for me here. Could you try restarting and see if that fixes it?

For me, the "X" in the lower right corner works, also "ESC" works.

I'm using FireFox 17.01.

I tried the same thing in IE 7, but the "X" and ESC worked there, OK.

(There was some menu weirdness in IE 7, but I've seen that elsewhere. A menu that should have run left-right along the top of the screen runs up-down near the left margin. But you can't count what IE 7 does wrong as a bug - more like "expected non-conformance".)

>> I'm not expecting any reports, though.

If it was anyone else, I would say "pride goeth before a fall", but based on his track record, I'm not betting against Dave.

Bev may be experiencing what I'm experiencing: Some photos are so large that the exit "x" is no longer visible unless I scroll to the right. It's due to my small monitor and my reluctance to adjust the text to a smaller size in order to fit everything onto my small screen.

Gotcha. Some of those photos can be pretty big.

My habit is always just to hit the Escape key on my keyboard to close the image.

I definitely have to scroll down to find the "X". I usually have to.

When I want to exit a photo, I just click outside pic where the post area is. It takes too long for me to find the X when it way over the right hand side of screen. And that's one of the problems I was having: No X just the message: "Import to databaseimage 2of 5nextpreviousclose" and no "image 12 of 15" with arrows to move thru the pics.
Above was just observations while reading 2 different posts.
Since I got back on again, I haven't seen it happen again so far.

When I tried to give an acorn from a thread under a Tip, I got the error listed below.

While collecting info for a bug report, I opened up the single post to find its URL.

Then I tried giving the acorn from that single post, and it worked.

I tried several times, unsuccessfully, from the Tip-thread.
I did check that I had typed "1" (digit one), not "l" (letter L).
I also tried 1.00, unsuccessfully.

The odd thing is, over the last few days I have given 1 acorn from threads in forums with no problems.

Edited to add: Confirmed! I just gave 0.5 acorns from a forum thread.

- - - - - - - - -

Error: The number of acorns you give must be at least 0.01.

FireFox 17.0.1.

But I'm doing it from work, and Who Knows what IT has built as an interface or firewall?

I'll go look for another tip-able post on a Tip-thread.

I just opened that thread. I gave you a tip at the top from inside the thread and it worked.

Then I clicked on the post # of the same post and gave you a tip from there and it worked there, too.

Let me know if you can replicate this. Or give me some direct steps to try.

I'm glad to learn you can hit escape to close a photo because I always have problems closing them. I have to scroll quickly until I see a black background and then quickly tap (iPad) to go back to the forum and it sometimes takes several times to accomplish this. My son, a computer geek, would say it's an Apple for you Rolling my eyes.

I will have to double check if I have the same problem with my laptop (a pc). But good to know I can just hit escape.

Not new today but I was also having the top menu bar floating down the window, covering up when I'm typing. Someone else mentioned that they were having this problem as well. Again, probably because it's on my iPad...

You're the first person I've heard from whose organization is still using the ESR release (v. 17) of Firefox, rather than updating (currently v. 22). We decided to ignore the laggers in our web development since they haven't even made a blip in our logs, but I would be very interested if any significant difference in functionality came up.

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.
